Bankruptcy
Mary Jo Dowd represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, committees, trustees, and asset purchasers in bankruptcy court cases, out-of-court debt restructures, and related litigation. She has particular experience in the automotive, broadcast, construction, intellectual property, real estate, and not-for-profit areas.
Campaign and Election Law
Craig Engle has more 35 years-experience advising political committees, nonprofits, candidates and office holders, corporations, media companies, foreign governments, lobbyists, celebrities, and high-net-worth individuals on all aspects of election, tax, and ethics laws.
Employment and Defense
Linda Jackson’s practice includes non-compete, non-solicitation, and trade secret litigation; breach of fiduciary duties and duties of loyalty; internal investigations; whistleblower and retaliation litigation; as well as pay equity, wrongful discharge, and discrimination litigation.
Real Estate
Thomas Castiello’s principal areas of focus are commercial real estate matters, joint ventures, transactional work, and finance. He has extensive experience working with a number of District of Columbia public charter school in connection with, among other things, the acquisition, financing and development of campus facilities.
Richard Newman’s practice has a special emphasis on municipal finance, project finance, and the representation of nonprofit organizations. As co-chair of Arent Fox’s Public Finance group, Richard provides services as borrower’s counsel, underwriter’s counsel, credit enhancement counsel, trustee’s counsel, servicer/originator counsel, and bond counsel to clients nationally.
Kimberly Wachen advises major publicly traded corporations, investors, and lenders on the structuring, negotiating, and closing of complex real estate, finance, and corporate transactions. Her approach to practicing law is to partner with her clients and deliver high quality work under tight deadlines while being sensitive to costs.
Mark Katz represents private equity funds, investment banks, and institutional investors in all aspects of their real estate investment and financing activities. He has extensive transactional experience in acquisitions, senior and mezzanine financings, loan workouts and restructurings, joint ventures, and development and disposition of commercial real estate assets throughout the United States
Tax
William Charyk serves as tax counsel to a wide variety of syndicated and closely held limited partnerships, particularly entities with tax-exempt investors. In particular, he supervises the planning and implementation of a wide variety of compensation vehicles, including defined benefit pension plans, Section 401(k) programs, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), and various executive deferred compensation arrangements.
Quana Jew is skilled in the tax, regulatory and design issues applicable to profit-sharing plans, money purchase pension plans, Section 401(k) programs, Section 403(b) programs, and Section 457 plans. She also designs and advises clients on employee stock ownership plans, executive incentive and deferred compensation arrangements, and qualified and nonqualified stock option plans.

Holly Bastian focuses on the preservation of wealth and the transfer of that wealth from generation to generation.
