The promoted partners and their areas of practice are as follows:

Danielle W. Bulger – Copyright and Trademark, Washington, DC

Danielle’s practice navigates the ever-evolving landscape of intellectual property law in the digital age. She advises on all aspects of copyright, anti-piracy, trademark, trade dress, and advertising law, helping clients find effective legal and business solutions, and understand the creation, ownership, licensing, use, and enforcement of brand assets and works of authorship in the United States and internationally. Leveraging skills as a former multimedia journalist and producer, Danielle often tackles issues of first impression relating to infringement, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence. In addition to her IP counseling practice servicing those in the media, technology, and retail industries, among others, Danielle is an accomplished litigator. She frequently appears before federal district courts and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the US Patent and Trademark Office. Danielle earned her JD from Georgetown University Law Center and her BA from the University of Michigan.

Jessica DiPietro – International Trade & Investment, Washington, DC

Jessica counsels and advocates for clients on various types of international trade matters, focusing on trade remedy actions and trade policy issues, including antidumping and countervailing duty matters before relevant government agencies, and in related litigation before the US Court of International Trade and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as dispute settlement panels. She also advises clients on global trade strategies, including global safeguard actions under Section 201, national security measures under Section 232, and global measures addressing sustainability. Jessica earned her JD from the American University Washington College of Law, her MA from American University, and her BA from Western New England University.

Bryce W. Donohue – Corporate & Securities, Boston

Bryce counsels clients that range from entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies, to venture capital funds and high-net-worth angel investors, to large family-owned and privately-held businesses on an array of business planning, venture investments, and general corporate matters. He regularly provides guidance on entity formation and structuring, corporate governance matters, capital raising efforts, complex commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. Bryce also represents venture capital investors, founders, and emerging companies in a wide variety of equity financings and investments, including Convertible Notes, Simple Agreements for Future Equity, and National Venture Capital Association-style priced rounds. He earned his JD from the University of Maryland School of Law and his BA from Boston College.

Rebecca W. Foreman – Complex Litigation, Washington, DC

Rebecca’s practice focuses on regulatory counseling and complex litigation matters, primarily in the biotechnology and agricultural technology space with a focus on products regulated by the US Department of Agriculture, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Food and Drug Administration. She regularly handles litigation in federal court in matters arising under the Administrative Procedure Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Plant Protection Act, and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. Rebecca also advises on regulatory pathways to commercialization for new products and technologies, and litigation relating to product approvals and data use. She has also been involved in litigation involving the First Amendment and defamation, health care reimbursement, and government investigations under the False Claims Act. She earned her JD from the American University Washington College of Law and her BS from the University of Delaware.

Alex Garel-Frantzen – Environmental, Chicago

Alex represents businesses in a wide variety of environmental regulatory, permitting, transactional, and litigation matters, including federal and state cases arising under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, brownfields redevelopment statutes, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Water Act, and state analogs. He counsels clients on federal, state, and local regulatory compliance issues and the environmental aspects of real estate transactions and renewable energy development. Alex represents a variety of businesses, including electric power utilities, gas transmission, storage, and distribution companies, water utility companies, renewable energy developers, investment firms, industrial manufacturers and suppliers, and consumer product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. He earned his JD from the University of Illinois College of Law and his BA from the University of Illinois.

Mike Guippone – Municipal Bond Recovery, New York

Mike advises holders of distressed municipal bonds and bond trustees on workouts, bankruptcies, restructurings, and receiverships. He also advises municipal bond purchasers on structuring creditor-friendly financing. Mike’s experience includes bond-financed projects in various sectors such as public utilities, industrial development/technology, health care, higher education, student housing, and other on- and near-campus projects. Mike earned his JD from Fordham University School of Law and his BA from Dartmouth College.

June M. Lee – Automotive, San Francisco

June advises clients on corporate law and commercial transactions with a focus on the automotive industry. She has experience with corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, corporate compliance, and negotiating transactional and financing documents. June also provides guidance to automotive dealers on compliance matters. June received her JD from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and her BA from the University of California, Davis.

Dean A. Roy – Real Estate, Washington, DC

Dean’s practice touches multiple aspects of commercial real estate, including multifamily, office, retail, mixed use, hospitality, and specialty property types such as senior housing and schools. He handles a wide variety of complex transactions, ranging from joint venture and preferred equity investments on behalf of institutional investors to office leasing on behalf of landlords and tenants and the purchase and sale of individual properties and multi-state portfolios. Of late, he has worked extensively on the purchase, leasing, and development of land for data centers in the Northern Virginia/DC area and across the country, as well as large-scale infill development projects for developer clients engaged by municipalities. He earned his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and his BA from the University of Notre Dame.

Daniel J. Schufreider – Complex Litigation, Chicago

Daniel has represented clients from a wide array of industries, including banking, financial markets, energy, and manufacturing, on highly complex litigation matters in state and federal court, as well as in arbitration proceedings. He has developed a particular focus in the insurance and reinsurance industries, including by counseling on and litigating highly sensitive insurance coverage issues. Daniel earned his JD from the University of Chicago Law School and his BA from Northwestern University.

Anthony-Ray Sepúlveda – White Collar, Chicago

Anthony-Ray has significant investigative experience. He is a former assistant inspector general and investigator, where he focused on creating and implementing investigative plans to detect and deter waste, fraud, misconduct, abuse of authority, and corruption. Anthony-Ray also has experience with litigation, including trial preparation, writing briefs, examining witnesses, and delivering closing arguments. Before his time at the Office of Executive Inspector General, Anthony-Ray interned in four prosecutor offices throughout the country. He earned his JD from the University of Chicago Law School and his BA from the University of Arizona.

Cynthia Thomas – Real Estate, New York

Cindy advises on the acquisition, financing, and disposition of real estate in various sectors, including health care, multifamily, senior living, hotel, and industrial. She also advises lenders and investors at all levels of the capital stack on senior and mezzanine loans, as well as preferred equity and debt investments, covering a broad range of projects across virtually all asset classes with a focus on health care transactional matters. Cindy earned her JD from Hofstra University School of Law and her BS from Marist College. 

Zak D. Welsh – Real Estate, San Francisco

Zak maintains a broad, multi-dimensional transactional practice with a focus on the sports, entertainment, real estate, and hospitality industries. In addition to traditional real estate work, Zak has a depth of experience handling a wide variety of commercial agreements on behalf of professional sports franchises, owners and operators of entertainment venues, and brands and service providers, including naming rights, sponsorship, and advertising agreements, suite, club, and hospitality agreements, ticketing agreements, media agreements, management agreements, F&B and pouring rights agreements, team and event licenses, NIL, influencer, and promotional agreements, joint venture agreements, and purchase and sale agreements. He is an adjunct sports law professor at UC Berkeley School of Law. Zak earned his JD from UC Berkeley School of Law and a double BS from the University of California, Davis.

Jeffrey B. Weston – Labor, Employment & OSHA, Los Angeles

Jeffrey represents and counsels employers in a range of labor and employment matters, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, denial of family and medical leaves, and wage-and-hour violations. He also defends companies in complex wage and hour class, collective, and representative actions. Jeffrey’s practice also focuses on internal investigations and compliance reviews in a variety of industries, including technology, nonprofit organizations, automobile, sports and entertainment, fashion and retail, and manufacturing. He earned his JD from the University of Arizona College of Law and his BA from Brigham Young University.

Elise H. Yu – Complex Litigation, Ann Arbor

Elise is a seasoned litigator and trial advocate. She regularly counsels and represents individuals and businesses across industries, including automotive, retail, and consumer products, leading up to and through litigation involving issues ranging from state and local taxation, business disputes, and antitrust matters. She has experience in all phases of litigation, including managing large-scale e-discovery and trial, and has appeared before administrative tribunals, trial, and appellate courts around the country. Elise also maintains an active pro bono practice. Elise earned her JD from the University of Michigan Law School and her BA from the University of Michigan.

Laura Zell – Complex Litigation, Washington, DC

Laura specializes in intellectual property litigation, with a focus on trademark, trade dress, copyright infringement, and white collar defense and internal and government investigations. She has served as the lead associate at trademark and white collar trials in federal court, providing her with significant experience in all phases of litigation, ranging from discovery, motions practice, and witness preparation to direct and cross-examinations and post-trial motions. Laura’s experience also includes litigating intellectual property cases and claims related to advertising and unfair competition, as well as assisting clients in responding to state and federal government subpoenas and civil investigative demands. She earned her JD from the University of Notre Dame and her BA from the University of Maryland.
