Linda Baumann Comments on Health Care Fraud and Abuse Enforcement Under the New Administration

Health Care partner Linda Baumann was quoted in the article “Medicare to Closely Review Nursing Home, Psychiatric Payments” in Bloomberg BNA’s Health Care Daily Report.

The article discusses the 2017 Work Plan issued by the Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and notes the OIG’s interest in reviewing potentially fraudulent activities at skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, hospices, as well as hospitals and other types of providers. Linda notes that the work plan was released the same week as the presidential election so  “it may be too early to tell how President-Elect Trump’s Administration will impact OIG enforcement efforts.” Linda also pointed out that despite the fact that Republicans tend to reduce regulations on businesses, “there’s likely to be strong support to keep fraud and enforcement authorities due to the revenues they bring in for the federal government.”
