Grimm Discusses Need for Transparency in Controversial Health Care Transactions

Health Care Practice Leader Douglas A. Grimm was quoted by STAT News discussing the economic decisions of the Corvallis Clinic in Oregon, which is seeking a buyer due to severe financial difficulties, emphasizing the importance of transparency for community trust in such transactions.

“Corvallis is acting rationally in terms of its economic situation, because there’s probably little choice,” said Douglas.

He explained that increasing the public’s comprehension of the situation will hopefully help build community confidence, which may be particularly important since the Oregon Health Authority has approved all 15 healthcare merger and acquisition transactions it has evaluated since the Oregon Health Care Market Oversight Program’s inception in 2022.

Even with public opposition, Douglas anticipates that this transaction will receive approval.
