Food, Drug, Medical Device & Cosmetic Partner Emily Cowley Leongini will lead a session on dietary supplements in the Food & Drug Law Institute’s (FDLI) virtual Introduction to Food Law and Regulation course on September 18, 2024.

Emily will provide an overview of dietary supplements and examine statements of nutritional support and structure-function claims. Her session will cover dietary supplement safety regarding new dietary ingredients (NDIs) and grandfathered “old” dietary ingredients, as well as Serious Adverse Event Reporting (SAER) requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). In addition, Emily will draw on her experience providing strategic regulatory counseling to clients in the cannabis/hemp/cannabidiol (CBD­) industries to assess the current landscape of CBD.
