Part 4 of our Family Office 101 series reviewed trust structures for family offices on March 14, 2024.
In this program, ArentFox Schiff Partners Luke Harriman and Christopher Roman discuss trust structures for family offices, with additional remarks from emcees Michael Moyers and Sarah Severson.
Family offices and advisors often deal with complex trust structures that were put in place over multiple decades, by different individuals, for different reasons. This presentation outlines techniques to help family office administrators and client families focus on and understand the critical terms of existing trusts. They also reviewed a variety of techniques such as decanting, nonjudicial settlement agreements, trust protectors, and exercises of powers of appointment that allow trusts to be consolidated and simplified, all with an eye toward making life easier for family office administrators and client families.
