Joe advises clients operating in the engineering arts and life sciences sectors. He has extensive experience in both domestic and foreign patent prosecution and counseling clients on issues relating to patent infringement and validity, including non-liability opinions, freedom to operate and design-around studies, IP due diligence, and licensing negotiations as well as litigation matters in the federal courts and the United States Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
His professional experience as both an electrical engineer and a master electrician provides him with a unique skill set that allows him to provide strategic intellectual property and business insight.
The technologies Joe has experience with is vast. He has done considerable work with LED lighting solutions, medical devices, consumer products , semiconductor equipment, power supplies, lasers, image processing devices, machine learning, micro-displays, optical components, plasma systems, alternative energy technologies, energy harvesting devices, financial services, multimedia, GPS systems, antennas, radar, multivariate analysis techniques, software, robotics, wireless mesh networks, and cellular VOIP and wired telecommunications systems. He is familiar with various data structures, compression and decompression techniques, encryption technology, digital signal processing, artificial intelligence and neural networks, machine learning, pattern matching, virtual reality, and computer network and internet technology.
Previous Work
Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, Joe served as co-chair of the intellectual property group at a midsized law firm in Boston and sat on the firm’s Executive and Diversity Committees.
