Bouker Recognized for Access to Justice Advocacy and Pro Bono Work
ArentFox Schiff is pleased to announce that Jon Bouker, Government Relations practice co-leader and AFS Pro Bono Committee co-chair, has been recognized with the DC Bar’s 2023 William J. Brennan Jr. Award for his tireless advocacy for access to justice, especially for the District’s most vulnerable population.
The Brennan Award is presented biennially to a DC Bar member who has demonstrated exceptional achievement and made a significant impact to the pursuit and quality of equal justice.
“I am both honored and humbled to be recognized in this way because access to justice work is so important to me… I often tell lawyers that the pro bono work we do is why most of us became lawyers in the first place—to assist those most vulnerable in our society. There is nothing more important in our profession than ensuring that our justice system is inclusive and that all litigants, regardless of their circumstances, have equitable access to justice,” Jon told the DC Bar.
Jon was previously honored with DC Appleseed’s Community Service Award for contributions to DC voting rights and the CAEAR Coalition’s Partnership Award for work on behalf of those living with HIV/AIDS. He has been recognized by the Washington Business Journal as a Top Washington Lawyer in the categories of “Young Guns” and “State and Local Lobbying.” Chambers USA has recognized him as a leading attorney in its Government Relations category.
