ArentFox Schiff Welcomes International Trade & Investment Partner Christopher H. Skinner
Chris helps clients navigate a range of complex regulatory issues that arise in international transactions, including US export restrictions under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, economic sanctions regulations administered by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, and Export Administration Regulations administered by the US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security. His practice also includes advising companies engaged in mergers and acquisitions on national security reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.

In addition to advising on export controls and economic sanctions programs, Chris has extensive experience working with US, foreign, and multinational companies on a range of customs and import compliance matters. He has assisted clients with tariff classification, origin verification, valuation, duty drawback, foreign trade zones, prior disclosures, and import enforcement, among other matters. Chris also has experience developing anticorruption compliance programs and advising on compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. His clients span an array of industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, defense, electronics, firearms, software, consumer products, and chemicals.
Chris serves as the co-chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) International Law Section’s Customs Law Committee. He is also a steering group member and former co-chair of the ABA’s Export Controls and Economic Sanctions Committee and National Security Law Committee. Additionally, Chris serves as a member of the Society for International Affairs, the International Compliance Professionals Association, and National Council on International Trade Development.
Chris joins the firm from Williams Mullen and is licensed to practice in Washington, DC, and Virginia.
