Senator Byron Dorgan Pens Op-ed on Tax Reform for Morning Consult

Tax reform has been a popular topic of discussion since the current administration took office. Arent Fox senior policy advisor Senator Byron Dorgan played a pivotal role the last time major tax reform was negotiated in 1986.

Based on this experience, the former Democratic Senator of North Dakota offers some advice to the current Congress on how to accomplish tax reform in an opinion piece in the Morning Consult. His two main points are that first and foremost, the attempt must be bipartisan. According to the Senator, this is a requirement for success. The second piece of advice is that the plan has to be revenue neutral, noting that, “We should not be adding to the burden of a large federal debt as we reform the tax code.” To read the op-ed in full, click here.
