Partner Hunter T. Carter was invited by the Office of the Mayor of Medellín, Colombia, to give the keynote speech of the Summit Meeting of “May for Life,” a month-long series of activities promoting peace and nonviolence in Colombia.

At the Summit, Hunter addressed “Marriage Equality as Massive and Rapid Social Change Through Nonviolence.”

In addition, Hunter agreed to multiple interviews and a press conference addressing the improving state of the law for same-sex couples in Colombia, current cases in the Constitutional Court, recent reported acts of violence and bullying, and Arent Fox’s representations. Those include: three Chilean couples and a human rights group that have negotiated a marriage equality agreement in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights with the government of Chile; an amicus brief for the NY City Bar in the Colombian Constitutional Court, where Hunter has been identified as an expert to argue before the Court in June in a marriage equality case; and Arent Fox’s representation of hundreds of first responders and FBI agents in the US Supreme Court’s pending marriage equality case.
