Health Care Practice Leader Douglas A. Grimm was quoted by Law360 discussing the lack of regulation surrounding the use of AI within health care.

Health care industry leaders are attempting to keep up with technological advancements by incorporating AI into their organizations; however, federal regulations have yet to provide rules for compliance. Douglas told Law360 that there are very few legal questions among the concerns clients bring up around Al in health care because the regulations don’t exist yet. He said, “But they’re coming to the lawyers with these questions because they’re not sure who else to turn to… and the lawyers don’t necessarily have answers to all of these questions, but nevertheless, that’s what we’re being presented with.”

Douglas shared that Al became a more significant aspect of his practice about 18 to 24 months ago, as clients started seeking advice on integrating the new technology into their organizations. He noted a mix of excitement and apprehension among clients, stating, “They see that there are not a lot of laws, and it doesn’t take me long - if they don’t know - to inform them that there aren’t AI laws, but related laws that still require compliance.”
