Geely’s latest global move
The latest hire by Geely Automobile Holdings illustrates that the privately held Chinese company is intent on becoming a key player in the global automotive marketplace.
Geely, which owns Volvo and Lotus, has hired former Jaguar Land Rover design chief Wayne Burgess to head up its new design studio in the United Kingdom. Li Shufu, Geely’s chairman, is also the largest shareholder in German automaker Daimler AG.
