Ford under investigation for emissions testing procedures
The U.S. Justice Department announced last week that it has opened a criminal investigation into Ford’s emissions certification process.
In September 2018, the auto manufacturer began an internal review of the way it determines pollution and mileage calculations after discrepancies were reported by employees. Ford then voluntarily disclosed the matter to state and federal regulatory officials in February. The company is fully cooperating with all government agencies. Ford is the latest manufacturer to come under the microscope of U.S. authorities regarding emissions testing procedures. The probe follows high profile criminal investigations of Volkswagen and Fiat Chrysler.
