The ABA Young Lawyers Division Health Law Committee and ABA Health Law Section is hosting a networking reception followed by a roundtable discussion with senior government attorneys from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Department of Justice (DOJ), and Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG). During the roundtable discussion, Alec Alexander, Deputy Administrator & Director for CMS Program Integrity; Susan Elter Gillin, Chief of the Administrative and Civil Remedies Branch within the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General; Gus Eyler, Acting Director of the Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch; and Sally Molloy, Assistant Chief in the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division Fraud Section’s Health Care Fraud Unit, will discuss their roles and their departments’ recent activities and key priorities.

Speakers
Alec Alexander is the Deputy Administrator of CMS and Director of the CMS Center for Program Integrity. He is responsible for overseeing the creation, implementation and management of federal policy aimed at identifying program vulnerabilities and preventing fraud, waste and abuse within the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The Center for Program Integrity also oversees all CMS interactions and collaboration with key stakeholders relating to program integrity including the US Department of Justice, HHS Office of Inspector General, state law enforcement agencies, and other federal entities. He previously worked as a hospital executive for CHRISTUS Health and was an assistant U.S. attorney focused on health care fraud from 2002-2010.
Susan Elter Gillin is the Chief of the Administrative and Civil Remedies Branch within the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General (OCIG). ACRB handles numerous types of cases for the OIG, focusing largely on litigation and compliance, including cases under the Self-Disclosure Protocol, the False Claims Act, the Civil Monetary Penalties Law, and the Exclusions Statute. Susan has previously worked for O’Melveny & Myers LLP and the US Tax Court.
Gus Eyler is the Acting Director of the Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch. He oversees criminal and civil litigation enforcing the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and other laws that protect Americans’ health, safety, and financial security. Gus previously served in the Office of the Attorney General, the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, and the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.
Sally Molloy is an Assistant Chief in the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division Fraud Section’s Health Care Fraud Unit where she supervises Corporate Strike Force cases.
Rachel Yount (Moderator) is Vice Chair of the ABA Young Lawyers Division’s Health Law Committee.
