Arent Fox Automotive practice leader Aaron Jacoby will speak at the Los Angeles World Affairs Council’s “Future of the Automobile” conference, which will be held at the Peterson Automotive Museum on Thursday, May 3 in Los Angeles, California.

The conference will bring together leading voices from car manufacturers, technology companies, and regulatory agencies for a day-long series of talks and panel discussions on one of the biggest technological, economic, and social changes facing the US and the world in the coming years. Aaron will be participating in a panel entitled, “Ethics and Regulations: Who’s at the Wheel?,” which will discuss how autonomous vehicle development brings with it a number of unique ethical and regulatory challenges. If an AV crashes, who should be held responsible?  What will the role of insurance companies be?  Should regulations be developed by the states - as is the case now - or will we ultimately need federal standards?  Aaron will be speaking along with the Director of California’s Department of Motor Vehicles and the Chairman of the Board of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
