Karen’s practice involves representing clients ranging from privately held companies to publicly traded corporations. She regularly counsels purchasers, sellers, developers, and managers on purchase and sale transactions, joint venture transactions, and acquisition financing, construction financing, and loan modification transactions.
Karen works extensively with clients in the senior living space on real estate-related matters, including acquisitions of existing senior living facilities and raw land for the development of new senior living facilities and negotiations of property management agreements.
Recent representations include representing a private equity fund in the sale of senior living facilities located throughout the United States, representing a private real estate developer in the formation of various joint ventures and subsequent development by the joint ventures of senior living facilities and representing a private real estate owner and retail shopping center operator in various real estate transactions.
Previous Work
Before attending law school, Karen worked as an editorial assistant at Princeton University Press, an academic book publishing company located in Princeton, New Jersey.
Life Beyond the Law
Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons attending various sporting events and exploring Washington, DC’s museums and kid-friendly restaurants.
